The convolutions’ design are inspired from the image of Wind Swords of Japanese Samurai. These convolutions reflect the heat of the hand when the pen is held. They work like a radiator of a car. This prevents the air in the barrel from expanding, and results in a consistent flow of ink. One unique feature of this pen that is different than the modern 2011 nib design is the size and shape of the nib. The original 1978 edition uses a much smaller feed , much slimmer and more narrow nib compared to the modern 2011 model. The design is also different as the 2011 model introduces a wider wing on the nib with fewer kanji letters to signify the size of the nib. In terms of writing the 1978 edition offers more writing sizes and experiences. The Medium nib on this pen feels like a fine nib on today's modern nib.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWriting was smooth thanks to a consistent ink flow which I would describe as generous enough to prevent any skipping or hard starts but not so much that you need to stop and wait every few words for the ink to dry, all in all just right.
